Carole Teller is an artist and photographer, born and raised in Brooklyn before finally settling into the East Village for 50 years. She frequently paints cityscapes of Manhattan, often from the view of her apartment on the 18th floor. When she studied art at Pratt, she found herself gravitating towards representational art as opposed to the abstract expressionism that was encouraged there. She taught art full-time in Bedford-Stuyvesant for 26 years, and then part time at PS. 41 in Greenwich Village before fully retiring from teaching. It was after her teaching career that Carole pursued her newfound life as a representational painter at Salmagundi, where she is now one of the most highly sought-after artists by collectors.
