Nedra Newby's paintings focus on the various geometric shapes found in urban landscapes. She experiments with conveying the rhythm of the city in various forms, be it representational or leading into abstraction. Her work has won numerous awards in the United States, including the 2000 Governor's Award from the VCCA Artist Residency in Virginia and The Thomson Photo Imaging Prize from the 56th Miami International Orchid Show Photography Exhibition. She is an artist member at Salmagundi Art Club and Pen & Brush, exhibiting in both art clubs as well as in the North Dakota Museum of Art at Grand Forks.
